Vintage Wardway (Wagner Ware) Cast Iron Breakfast Skillet Excel Restored Cond

  

Wagner Ware produced a full line of cast iron cookware for Montgomery Wards in the 1930s that was branded as "Wardway". This line included skillets, covers, griddles, Dutch ovens and muffin pans. This line of cookware is now on the list of "Hard to Find". Wagner Ware cookware produced before WWII were just as fine in quality as any Griswold piece and tended to have a much smoother finish to the touch. This is one of those fine examples.

You will be hard pressed to locate another example in this condition. This Breakfast skillet is in excellent restored condition. The cooking surface is in excellent condition and is near glass smooth to the touch. Two sheets of printer paper slipped under one edge on the bottom stops movement on a granite surface. No chips, cracks or repairs and does not spin.

Test for flatness of skillet. With the skillet resting on a polished granite surface, press down all along the top rim searching for movement.

If movement is found, slip pieces of printer paper under one edge of the until pot stops moving. Item was stripped down to bare metal using collector approved lye bath and electrolysis treatments. This process ensures the removal all residue from previous use making it safe to use once more.

Item is lightly seasoned with one round of Crisco at 450 for 1 hours. This item were photographed in very bright light to highlight fine details. Under these lighting conditions, item will take on a brown color. Items are much darker under normal light.
